Having consulted with residents regarding the possibility of creating parking restrictions on the corner of Barfield/Barton Rd/Ship Lane, the responses indicate that although some people feel yellow lines would make it safer for people to exit the road in their vehicles, many more feel it would exacerbate parking issues for local residents, and that as it’s unlikely the yellow lines would be marshalled regularly, people would continue to park on the corners anyway.
The possibility of bollards was suggested, however this isn’t an option that Kent Highways have offered, and also the general consensus is that people would probably park alongside any bollards anyway, therefore causing potential road blockages.
For this reason, and having taken further advice from Kent Highways based on the level of responses, we do not feel it would be productive to pursue the parking restrictions at this stage.
