Important Update – Bus Shelters

Following a recent safety inspection, the wooden bus shelter at Shirehall has unfortunately failed the required safety checks and has had to be taken out of service with immediate effect. The shelter will now be removed as soon as possible. Importantly, there will be NO disruption to bus services, and buses will continue to stop there as normal.

We know many residents have also raised concerns about the shelter opposite Longmarsh, and we want to reassure everyone that we are actively working on this too. We are very pleased to confirm that we have now received confirmation that the Longmarsh shelter can be included within Dartford Borough Council’s bus shelter replacement and maintenance contract, with the aim of replacing it before the end of the year.

In the meantime, we have been assured that the Longmarsh shelter is structurally safe to remain in place until replacement works can be carried out. Please be assured that this shelter WILL be replaced. Taking this approach is the best option for the Parish Council, as it allows us to focus our funds on providing a new wooden replacement shelter at Shirehall, while also seeking part-funding support through a Kent County Council grant.

We appreciate that these shelters are important to residents and apologise for any inconvenience caused while these improvements are being progressed.
